Monaco Grand Prix Historique
2022

Every two years the Monaco Grand Prix race track is used for historic racing two weeks before the Formula 1 race. The 2020 edition was cancelled and postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year the Automobile Club of Monaco went back to the traditional date of even years for the historic Grand Prix resulting in two consecutive years of the Monaco Grand Prix Historique.

The event was very well attended with practicing on Friday, Qualifying on Saturday and Races on Sunday. Most of the races are for single seater Grand Prix cars starting with early pre-war cars from the 1920’s ald the way to super fast Formula One of the 1980’s. Most popular though is the race for the Sports Racing cars.

The year 1952 was an exception from the rule as only sports racing cars competed in the Grand Prix. The  Automobile Club of Monaco decided a few years ago to include a class of front engined sports Sports Racing cars but extended it beyond 1952 to cars built as late as 1957. A wonderful field was enjoyed by the crowd. The 1952 Scuderia Ferrari 225S Vignale Berlinetta we have available was one of the cars which actually raced in the Monaco Grand Prix that year finishing 5th Over all.

I am looking forward to returning to Monaco for the next Historic Grand Prix in 2024. It is definitely worth the trip.
